We spent most of April and May writing 20 demos in a small studio near the University of Minnesota Campus. So many unused demos throughout the years... b-sides record anyone? Kevin being the main songwriter seems to like moving into a different studio with every new album we write. Keeping his surroundings fresh helps keep the creativity flowing. Nothing fancy about this studio but it got the job done! For pre production we flew in our songwriting cohort Colin. For a little over a week he worked with Kevin on taking the best demos to the next level. He had some great ideas to contribute and we loved working with him. Brandon killed it on the drums and in just a few days pounded his way through the entire 13 songs that we decided to track. We are now on to tracking all the guitars and vocals. Splitting our days in half depending on how Kev's voice feels. I love tracking guitars because it makes me feel that much closer to the song. Adding a little riff here and there to enhance the overall portrait of the song is what really gets me excited. Jordan our producer has been a huge help in pushing the envelope with guitar parts and sounds.
